Can you use BOTH IngramSpark and Createspace to self publish your POD PRINT book?
YES – absolutely you can use both at the same time. BUT there are a few things that you’ll need to know in order to make the two distribution channels play nicely with each other.
IngramSpark and CreateSpace ISBN Issues
Did you buy/get an ISBN for your print version yourself? Or are you using CreateSpace’s free ISBN that they provide for you?
If you’re using the free one, you’ll need to get one of your own in order to set your book up with IngramSpark.
If you got your own ISBN, no problem. In fact, that’s great. Because then your book will just have one listing on the online stores, and it won’t split your sales numbers. Just use the same ISBN when you set your book up in both channels.
When you set up the CreateSpace version, don’t activate the expanded distribution channels. If you do, when you try to set it up with Spark, you’ll get an error message that says your book is already in their system. If you do encounter this issue, you can contact Spark customer service and they can help you transfer the listing in their system over to your Spark account. Takes a few days, but it’s not the end of the world…
IngramSpark and CreateSpace Ideal Order of Operations
Set your book up with IngramSpark first. Then swing on over to CreateSpace and set it up there. When you get to CreateSpace, just don’t activate the expanded distribution channel, as you’ve already got that base covered through IngramSpark.
